Community Grid - Its mission is to create the largest public
computing grid benefiting humanity by accelerating research on critical
global problems. All you need to do is download a program that runs when
your computer isn't busy with something else.

| Help Fight Cancer - United Devices
hosts the "Volunteer Your PC" program that lets any PC owner (sorry Macs)
participate in cancer research conducted by the Department of Chemistry at the
University of Oxford. You'll download a screen-saver program to use your computer's idle
time analyze molecules that may help fight cancer. You can even watch as your
computer makes progress find what may be the cure! If that's not enough
incentive, United Devices makes donations to the Make a Wish Foundation and you
can win prizes too!

Fight AIDS
@ Home uses your computer to assist AIDS research. Just like
the United Devices program above, the FightAIDSatHome software utilizes your
computer's idle time to test millions of candidate drug compounds against
detailed models of evolving AIDS viruses. And of course, there's no cost to
you. Your computer's already on, put it to use!

old cell phone somewhere? It can become a lifeline for a victim of domestic
violence. Donate a Phone will take your old cell phone, refurbish it,
and program it to call 911 and local shelters. The phones are given to
potential victims by domestic violence organizations and police departments.

web site was created by a 13-year-old (with a little help from Dad) in 1996. You'll find over 600 links to other
