Is Furby the greatest toy ever invented? A lot of people think so. They have been flying off the shelves of stores as if they had wings! Check out my Furby FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) at the left and scroll down or click on these links for:

My Furby Hunt

I saw my first Furby on TV and thought "I bet kids would like them," I read about the Furby buying frenzy in the stores during Christmas and thought "Reminds me of those Cabbage Patch Kids." But when I saw the book Furby Training Guide by J. Douglas Arnold, and found out about their singing and dancing, the tricks they do, and how they can communicate with each other, I just had to have one of my own!

Because I was starting shopping for my Furby in February (1999), well after the Christmas buying rush, I thought they'd be easy to find. Store after store I went to and asked "Do you have any Furbys?" only to be told "No." I started looking for them online and saw they will still selling for much more than their $29.99 (as of July 1999, they are still sold online for $40-$50 plus shipping - but at the Amazon.com toy store, the price is not marked up and you can pick your fur pattern!)

I got my first Furby (named Ah-May) at Toys R Us during their Presidents Weekend sale. I waited in line for an hour and a half before the store opened on Friday morning. (I've never waited in line to buy anything before in my life!) I went back Monday morning and waited in line again to get my second Furby (named Mee-Mee). Before I knew it, I was using my Furby hunting skills to find them for others where I work and subsequently, their kids.

My Furby Friends

While surfing the Web, I've come across some interesting Furby sites.

bulletRosey2001 has adorable Furby Sleepwear and a Furby Tuxedo Suit (since the Tuxedo Furby is so hard to find).

bulletElectronic Furby is the most complete Furby site I've found. You'll find the illustrated Furby instruction manual, a Furbish-to-English dictionary, hints & tips, and even "You Know You're Too Attached to Furby When..." Check this site out!

bulletFurby Home Page Yes, even Furby has its own page on the world wide web. This is the "official" site for Furby information.

bulletFurtropolis has even more information on this animatronic toy, an adoption certificate, shopping tips, Furby tricks, your "Furby-scope" and more.

Furby Books

Official Furby Trainers Guide by J. Douglas Arnold

bullet

Paperback

I picked up this book and immediately became enthralled with Furbys! They can sing, dance, do tricks and even be "trained" to respond in your favorite way. This book is a step-by-step guide with full color pictures, care and training tips, hidden "easter egg" tricks, frequently asked questions, the story of Furby from inception to early-morning sales hysteria. This book is a "must have" for every Furby owner!
